Just wanted to leave a quick review for Phil at Black Horse Motors. I recently bought a 2018 Jaguar XF S Sportbrake from them and had a great experience. Phil was straightforward, easy to work with, and not pushy at all, which I really appreciated and is hard to find these days. The purchasing process was super quick even with being 600 miles away. After the purchase, I had a situation come up on my trip home cross country and reached out to him. He responded quickly, handled everything professionally, and stepped up without any hassle. That kind of follow through is hard to find and says a lot about how he runs his business and how much he actually cares about his customers. Overall, this is probably the best car purchasing experience I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from him again if another special car pops up in his inventory for me 😉 just don’t tell my wife…

I rarely write reviews, but Phil at Black Horse Motors in Ohio earned this one. I had only been in the US for a few months, and the idea of buying a very expensive car online honestly made me nervous. I did not grow up with the normal American way of doing things like wiring money first and then having the car shipped across the country. That whole process feels backwards when you are new here, especially when you have heard all the horror stories. Phil never once brushed off my concerns or acted like I was wasting his time. He explained how the wire transfer and paperwork typically work in a way that was clear and practical, and he kept it calm the whole time. No pressure, no attitude, no games. Before I found Phil, I talked with a lot of sellers in other states. Most people either gave short answers, got impatient, or just pushed me to commit. Phil was the outlier. I asked for a very specific set of videos and I mean specific, because I was trying to protect myself and verify everything. Phil was the only person who actually completed the entire video request list without complaining or cutting corners. That alone was a huge reason I decided to move forward with him. When someone is willing to do the unglamorous work up front, it tells you a lot about how they operate when something gets complicated. Even after I arranged a pre purchase inspection, I still had that lingering worry in the back of my mind. Phil could have easily said “you already inspected it” and moved on. Instead, he helped coordinate another inspection through the biggest, most reputable authorized dealer network in the area, and he paid for it. That is not normal. On top of that, he personally handled things that most dealers would either ignore or try to upsell, including putting brand new tires on the car and lining up the most trustworthy transport option. He treated the deal like it was his own money and his own reputation on the line, because it was. When the car arrived, everything checked out. Condition, details, and the overall story matched what Phil said it would be. I even took it to my local authorized dealer afterward for a small issue and to get another set of eyes on it, and that visit confirmed the car was exactly as represented. That was the moment I realized I could actually trust an out of state purchase when the seller is truly transparent and competent. This experience changed my comfort level permanently. I am no longer scared of buying a high end car from another state, because now I know what “done the right way” looks like. And even with that confidence, I would still prioritize Phil for my next purchase if he has the right car, because the way he handled this was rare. If you are on the fence, talk to him. He is genuinely nice, extremely patient, and he backs up his words with real effort.
